QR codes & self sign up FAQs
What should my interaction be with the guest?
Tell the guest to scan the QR code and add in their own details to join the queue. Avoid having long conversations with guests when multiple people around/wanting to get signed up
When guests scan the QR code this message appears: 'The queue is pretty full right now but if you can check back later, we might have more availability'
Your self sign up may be switched off. To ensure it's enabled head to:
Settings ➡ Queue access
If enabled the toggle should appear blue.
Self sign up is enabled, but guests can't join the queue and receive this error: 'This party size is unavailable, please check with the restaurant directly.'
It may be that certain party sizes have been disabled. Dojo allows a party of up to 6 guests to join the queue via self-sign up. Enabled party sizes will appear in blue:
When customers scan the QR code this message appears: 'This site is closed.'
Your current opening hours may not be up to date. Change this by heading to:
Settings ➡ Opening Hours
If this setting is not available to you, drop us a message and we'll help sort this out for you.
Guests that scan the QR code are not appearing on our system
Check to see whether you are on a party size filter. You will need to be on the 'All' tab of the queue page (highlighted in blue) to view all your queue places.
And as always, if no parties are still appearing then drop us a message and we'll investigate this further.
Remote check in FAQs
I've just started my queue and guests are joining the queue without me manually adding them
Diners appearing on your queue list means those diners have joined your queue via the Dojo app.
The wait times that are given to remote diners are inaccurate
Dojo's machine learning algorithm learns what your usual wait times are for certain party sizes and will adjust according to how quickly you are sitting guests.
If the wait times given to diners are consistently incorrect, drop us a message and we can adjust this for you.
In the meantime, there are immediate things that you can do whilst we work on it for you:
- Amend those wait times yourself by clicking on the customer and selecting 'Edit wait time'
- Add an extra wait time to all future remote check-ins e.g. an additional 30mins, by adding a multiplier. To do this head to: Settings ➡ System Preferences
Once you've added the additional minutes and clicked saved, you'll need to manually add a fake queue place to see the change (delete that fake queue place straight after).
General FAQs
Explain to the guest that, for their convenience, the restaurant is running a virtual queue. This will allow them the freedom to go elsewhere and come back to the restaurant when it’s their turn.
What do I do when a guest comes back after being notified?
When a guest arrives and their table is ready, click ‘Seat’ and they will be removed from our wait list. If the table isn’t available yet, let the guest know it’ll be a few more minutes and ask them to wait outside. When their table is ready, click ‘Seat.'
What do I do if a guest doesn't return after 10 minutes?
After 5 minutes we recommend sending them a chaser message via the 2-way chat system. If after 10 minutes the diner still hasn’t arrived, you can choose to either wait a little longer or delete them from the queue. You can always return the party to the queue via the "recent queue places" if they return.
What if a guest doesn’t have a mobile phone?
If the guest doesn’t have a mobile phone, you can still add them to the queue. Click the muted bell icon (🔕) when adding them to the queue. Please note that you won’t be able to notify the guest when their table is ready.
What does Dojo do with a guest's details?
Guests' details are are kept for 21 days and then deleted by Dojo.
Their details will not be used for any marketing purposes unless explicitly agreed to.
