Why do I need to provide my personal details?
We’re required to verify the identity of the individuals who we provide services for. We ask for your personal details so that we can verify who you are, helping to prevent fraud. See our privacy policy for how we manage personal data.
Will Dojo do a credit check?
If you’re applying as a sole trader or partnership, then we carry out a credit check on the main signatory of the application. In some cases, we may also do a credit check on directors or shareholders if you’re applying as a registered company. This may affect your credit score.
Do I need to have a business bank account?

What if I can’t find an appropriate ‘nature of business’?
We use a classification system known as Merchant Category Codes which cover most types of businesses. We know that all businesses are different and you may not be able to find a category that suits yours perfectly. If this is the case, please choose the category that is most relevant.
What if I have multiple businesses?
If you have multiple legal entities, you’ll need to complete an application for each one. If you have multiple sites all run by the same entity, you can complete one application with multiple locations. If you need help with this, speak to one of our Payments Consultants.
What happens after I’ve signed my Dojo Agreement?
Once you’ve signed your agreement with us, we’ll carry out some checks using the details you have provided. This is a regulatory requirement intended to prevent fraud and money laundering. In some cases we may ask you to provide additional information to support your application. Once we’ve completed the checks, we’ll set up your account and let you know once everything is done.
Why do you need to see my card processing statements?
Your statements help us understand the volume of card transactions you’ll be taking.
If you’re also applying for Dojo Advance, our lending partners YouLend need to verify your card turnover to help assess your eligibility for funding.
Why do you need to see my bank statements?
In some cases, we’ll ask you for bank statements to support your application. This is to verify the cash flow in your business and identify any potential risk of accepting card payments. For example, if you were to receive a chargeback from a customer’s bank, would you be in a position to cover this cost?
Why do you need a copy of my identification?
If we can’t verify your identity electronically, we may ask you for further proof of identity. This is to satisfy our regulatory requirements and to reduce the chances of fraud.
How will I know when my application is approved?
Once we’ve approved your application and your account is set up, we’ll email you to confirm and provide you with further details.
How long will it take for my card machine to arrive?
Once your application is approved, your card machine will be ordered and will arrive within a few days. You’ll receive notifications from our delivery partner DPD.
What if I change my mind after signing?
Our agreements are on a monthly rolling basis so you can leave any time, you just need to give us 30 days’ notice. If you’ve changed your mind, you can get in touch with our support team to close your account.
